Polka dot linen bolero for Jodi. As someone who tends to get a bit crazy with detail, sometimes it's nice to be reminded how fresh and pretty something simple can be.

Off to the races!

It's Kentucky Derby Day! And since every well-turned out lady simply must wear something on her head at the races, I thought I'd mention that we have many gorgeous new Twigs & Honey headpieces, headbands and hairpins at The English Dept. Myra's pieces are completely exquisite and we're so lucky to have them. They're too lovely to stay here long, though! The best pieces will go to the fleet of foot...

Moody blues.

These watercolor blues and greens seem just right for sunny/stormy April. Flower and leaf dress embellishment and sash for Sarah.

Don't call it gray.

You may know that grey (I just really have to spell it that way--so much prettier!) is my favorite color, so I'm happy Shontee let me talk her into this lovely silvery bolero to go over her wedding dress. Embellishments are silk organza flowers, hand dyed bits of lace and embroidery, and vintage pearls and jewels.

Winter blossoms.

Custom dress embellishment for Clare. Velvet dusty miller leaves, silk peonies and hydrangeas. Such a lovely, ghostly palette--as if every petal had been delicately frosted over.

What goes around.

This time of year I catch my breath, reflect, rest...but not for long! We are busily collecting photos of English Dept. brides for a memory book of sorts, and I happened to spot one of my little hairpieces in Emily's tresses--she borrowed it from a friend who found it at our shop. I love the idea of these handmade creations journeying through the universe--fly, little flower!

Nautical flair.

Jaunty little ruffle bolero in navy. Perfection with a striped tank and high waisted trousers. Oh, and a yacht. Definitely a yacht. Ideally a fifty footer.

Blush silk organza and feather flower headband for Robin. Her dress was one of my very, very favorite projects this year and I can't wait to see pictures of the whole ensemble (her wedding's this weekend!). Congratulations, Robin. Have a lovely time!

Fall colors.

Silk flower dress embellishment for Tara, and hair pieces for Emily's bridesmaids. I'm not normally a purple girl, but I do love that rich aubergine color.
